Compact PCI是一種基于標準PCI總線的小巧而堅固的高性能總線技術。1994年PICMG(PCI Computer Manufacturer’s Group, PCI工業計算機制造商聯盟)提出了Compact PCI技術,它定義了更加堅固耐用的PCI版本。在電氣、邏輯和軟件方面,它與PCI標準完全兼容。卡安裝在支架上,并使用標準的Eurocard外型。

三 Compact PCI的三大核心技術
Compact PCI具有以下特點:
· PCI局部總線
· 標準的Eurocard尺寸(根據IEEE 1101.1機械標準)
· HD(高密度)2mm引腳與插座連接器(IEC認可,Bellcore)
· PCI局部總線
PCI即外圍設備互聯之意,1992年由Intel發布,很快成為商業PC機總線標準。PCI是一種獨立于處理器的數據總線,不但性能良好而且價格便宜。PCI局部總線大意兩種數據寬度:32位和64位,總線速度可達66MHZ,理論數據處理能力:32位為264MB/S,64位為528MB/S。大多數計算機和操作系統都支持PCI。因為有大量支持PCI的產品,使得PCI產品既便宜又容易買到。擁有這些優勢,PCI總線非常適合在高速計算和高速數據通訊領域中應用。

Row 26-47: Additional pins for 64-bit PCI (System Slot boards must use it).
Row 26-28 and 40-42: Primarily implemented on System Slot boards.
